The Continental Basketball League would like to pass along our condolences to the family of Georgia Gwizzlies board member Phil Oliver. Mr. Oliver passed away on Friday from a sudden heart attack near his home in Atlanta, GA.

Funeral services for Mr. Oliver will be held at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta on Saturday April 24th at 10:00 am. Andrew Young will perform the eulogy and members of the Georgia Gwizzlies will act as pallbearers.

GWIZZLIES ANNOUNCE CHANGE IN TRYOUT DATE

The Georgia Gwizzlies of the newly formed Continental Basketball League have announced their scheduled tryout date of April 4th has been moved to April 18th. Team owner Embry Malone made the announcement on Monday.

The location and time of the tryout will remain the same and will take place at the Stone Mountain Bally’s, located at 5370 Stone Mountain Highway in Stone Mountain. If registered before April 18th, the cost of registration is $100.00; registration the day of the tryout is $200.00. Payment may be made with cash, money order or certified check.

The Georgia Gwizzlies of the Continental Basketball Association will be holding open player tryouts for the 2010 campaign. Gwizzlies owner Embry Malone made the announcement on Monday.

The Georgia Gwizzlies of the Continental Basketball League are seeking volunteers and interns for a variety of positions within the organization.

The Gwizzlies are seeking volunteers for game day operations such as scorekeeping, operation of the scoreboard, shot clock along with other duties.

Interns are needed for positions such as ticket operations, coordinating volunteers, and media relations. Gwizzlies owner Embry Malone says, "Being an intern and volunteering with the Gwizzlies is a great way to break into the world of professional sports. Our interns and volunteers will gain valuable experience in a variety of areas which we hope will help in their professional lives."
